Just imagine entertaining your corporate clients alongside an elephant, or a great white shark: how impressive would that be? Well, it’s possible – at the Great North Museum: Hancock in Newcastle Upon Tyne, where the exhibition space can be hired for conferences, private dinners, presentations, receptions and private celebrations. If you want a venue that’s a big talking point, this is certainly the one for you.
The adaptable exhibition space can be hired as a whole, with capacity for 300 guests for dinner or 1,300 for a reception. When split into three smaller spaces, the Exhibition (small) can seat 120 people in theatre style or hold 140 for a reception, whilst the Exhibition (medium) accommodates 300 in theatre style or 320 for a reception. The larger Exhibition (full) hosts up to 500 guests in theatre style or for a reception, or 350 seated for dinner.
There’s also the Clore Learning Suite and garden, with a raised pond and attractive planting; this is a great choice for summer parties, receptions and barbecues for up to 120 people, or for conferences for 100 in theatre style. Again, this Suite can be partitioned into the Small Clore Suite which accommodates 40 guests in theatre style and for a reception, and the Large Clore Suite holding 60 in theatre style and 70 for a reception.
The Living Planet is ideal for receptions for 200, dinners for 120, or theatre style conferences for 50 delegates, whilst the Hancock Restaurant and balcony offers superb space for 80 guests standing or 60 seated. The Great North Museum is also an interesting venue for smaller meetings and events, with the Planetarium holding 26 in theatre style, and the Street Café being an upbeat space for 30-50. The ornate Council Room is perfect for more discreet gatherings or board meetings for 12-20 executives.
A professional events team will work hard to ensure that your event runs without a hitch and to provide a function tailored to your requirements. A range of dining options are available from prestigious caterers and include three course dinners, buffets, bowl food, canapes, and drinks.
The Great North Museum is located within easy walking distance of pay and display car parks, and is a mere five-minute walk from Haymarket Metro Station.
