Dating back to the 17th century, The Williamson’s Tavern has an eminent history and is reputed to hold the oldest excise licence in the city; originally a residence for the Lord Mayors of London, it’s said that William III and Mary dined here. Rebuilt in the 1930’s, the style inside encaptures that whole period, with tiled floors, decorative windows and lighting reflective of the Art Deco movement.

Situated in a very charming courtyard off the main street, the building encompasses two floors and 3 private bars, with two separate venue spaces. Downstairs is Martha’s Bar, with capacity for 75 guests standing or 50 seated for dinner, and 45 for a meeting. Upstairs is the Back Bar, ideal for networking receptions and parties for up to 150 people or for dining and meetings for 50. But opt for whole venue hire at weekends and you can throw a networking reception or party for up to 350 guests; the whole feel will be one of vibrancy, and if it’s warm enough, your guests can spill out into the courtyard where there’s plenty of seating.
