The Engine House (Anthony Burgess Foundation)
This unique little haven dedicated to all things ‘Anthony Burgess’ celebrates the talented mind of one of the UK’s most talented individuals. Located in his hometown of Manchester, The Engine House Anthony Burgess Foundation is an independent charity and not only is a shrine to his work but also an atmospheric venue.
With open brickwork and featuring some of Burgesses own furniture and musical instruments, the previous old mill building now kitted out with the latest audio-visual equipment, lighting and an adjacent café-bar and can accommodate up to 110 guests depending on your layout. The room is ideal for plays, workshops, lectures, discussions and film showings. It can also be used for parties, lunches and receptions.
The Foundation has an expert team who can assist you in the planning of your event. Catering is available including refreshments at the bar, cakes and snacks, buffet meals and drinks receptions.
The venue is close to several pubs, bars and restaurants, both universities, art galleries and museums. Parking is found at several open-air car parks a short walk from the venue. The nearest railway station is Oxford Road.
