Less than an hour from London, Five Lakes Resort is one of those venues that has the lot. Set in 320 acres of glorious parkland, with two 18-hole golf courses and a football pitch, there’s a huge arena for up to 2,500 people, and 17 further meeting and event spaces that hold 10-400.
Those lakes and grounds are the perfect backdrop for fairytale weddings; the 30,000 square metre arena is a fabulous blank canvas for exhibitions, trade shows, product launches, glittering awards ceremonies, twinkling banquets, parties, you name it. In its entirety you can drive a double decker bus into it, though for smaller events, it splits into three.
For conferences, drinks receptions and training days there’s a superb choice of rooms, with the biggest, the Mersea Suite accommodating 400 delegates in theatre style. There’s a bar and terrace, and it can be divided into three smaller spaces each holding 100 guests. The Wallasea Suite also has a private bar and seats 160 people in theatre style; divided in two each room holds 80. With a private balcony, bar and dance floor, the Rushley Suite seats 100 people for dinner and can also be partitioned in two; nice for pre-dinner drinks. The Ramsey Suite as a whole holds 90 in theatre style or 45 in boardroom layout, and again, splits in three for smaller meetings. The Northey Suite and the Osey Suite each seat 40 delegates in theatre style and can be bisected for smaller executive pow-wows; finally, the Executive Boardroom holds 14, and has an adjoining breakout room and access to a balcony.
What a choice! Mix it up, book syndicate or breakout space alongside your main event; flexibility is key here – if you want a meeting on the squash court, that’s what you shall have! Use the grounds, the footie pitch, tennis courts, gym, or a golf course for team building days; the venue offers corporate golf packages and works with partners who provide activities like duck herding, cocktail making, school sports days, and treasure hunts.
