The New Port Arms

This is nice, The New Port Arms in Southwick; one you should seriously consider if you’re looking for a South Coast venue that offers something unique for smaller business meetings and events. The harbourside setting is hard to beat, and it brings a happy relaxed edge to events; think conferences, team building, training days, private dining, drinks receptions, and parties any time of year.

The New Port Arms is like a little piece of New England in Sussex; there’s a fresh, easy going vibe, all enhanced by the maritime feel that comes not only from the setting, but from the interiors too – hardwood floors, all that coastal light, and blue, lots of blue. The south facing terrace has views out over the busy marina to Shoreham’s working port.

They have a second floor function room, but you can have exclusive hire of all the public space at The New Port Arms so you also get the downstairs bar, the waterside terrace and outside bar, and room for 150 guests - a good option for more sociable events.

Hired on its own, the function room gives you nearly 38 square metres of space and holds 50 people standing and 25 seated; it has a private bar, stage, separate WCs, direct kitchen service and access to the ground floor terrace. A noteworthy bonus is the south facing terrace where your guests can enjoy those harbour views and spend breakout time just watching the yachts and leisure boats come and go.

The team at The New Port Arms are really helpful and they’ll go out of their way to make sure your event is perfect in every way. They’re happy to help with any theming you want, to dress the room, and to arrange audio-visual equipment and entertainment. They have a good reputation for food here and can give you sample menus, but what they prefer to do is to have a chat with you and go bespoke. The other thing is that being right at the water’s edge, the venue has 3 moorings, which is food for thought – treat your guests to a boat trip post conference or have drinks on deck.

The New Port Arms offers free parking to event guests by way of vouchers; otherwise the train station is only a few minutes’ walk away.
