Winchester Cathedral

Dating back to medieval times, the glorious Winchester Cathedral is a huge part of the city’s heritage and a very impressive venue for weddings or for business meetings and events for up to 200 people. Make it one to remember whether it’s a conference, exhibition, product launch, training or team building day, awards ceremony, banquet, concert, party, or a very refined executive meeting.

The sense of romance and splendour at Winchester Cathedral is enormous. The light and airy Refectory holds 120 people and is perfect for summer drinks parties, being set in a charming walled garden with breath taking cathedral views. The modern Paul Woodhouse Suite accommodates 100 delegates and has a vaulted timber ceiling, wood floors and glass walls; the Wessex also holds 100 and is set within an ‘Apothecary’s Garden’.

Often booked together, the Prior’s Hall and the Chapter Room were once the Prior’s Great Chamber, used for entertaining, as they still are today. The Prior’s Hall overlooks the green of the Inner Close and holds 55 guests for drinks or dinner; the smaller Chapter Room, with silk drapes and ornate decoration has room for 30 for cocktails and 16 dining.

With capacity for 40 standing and 30 seated, the medieval Undercroft is a very atmospheric space with a vaulted ceiling, stone pillars and a huge fireplace; with it comes use of a grand piano and a private patio. The Garden Marquee holds 200 guests standing and 120 seated, or hire a marquee in the mature gardens and lawns for bigger events.
