One Whitehall Place

Founded by four times British Prime Minister William Gladstone, One Whitehall Place and its adjoining Royal Horseguards Hotel used to be the home of the National Liberal Club. These days it’s one of London’s most prestigious wedding and event venues, with capacity for up to 400 guests for drinks receptions, banquets, conferences, exhibitions, product launches, awards ceremonies, training days, and board meetings.

One Whitehall Place seeps grandeur and history with gorgeous original features like the high ceilings, sparkling chandeliers, oak panelling, and a freestanding marble staircase; the views of the River Thames and the London Eye are phenomenal. There is a choice of 14 beautiful event spaces, the biggest being the Gladstone Library which holds 400 people for a reception, 280 in theatre style and 252 for a sumptuous banquet. The adjoining Reading and Writing Room holds 300 for drinks, 144 in theatre style and 120 dining.

Another ample room is the Whitehall Suite which is the venue’s dedicated conferencing facility; it has capacity for 320 for cocktails, 260 in theatre style and 180 for a gala dinner. The River Room and the Meston Suite both hold 80, the Churchill Bar and the Thames Suite 50, and The Cellar and Terrace Room 40. 3 smaller rooms are ideal for discreet executive meetings and the Terrace makes a lovely spot for summer drinks.

Expect tiptop service from a well-polished events team, and 5-star dining. There’s air con, superfast wifi, state-of-the-art AV technology and in-house technicians, and staging, etc can be arranged to suit your event.

The Royal Horseguards Hotel has elegant rooms for your overnight delegates, a restaurant, lounge and bars, and an on-site gym. Embankment underground station is just a couple of minutes stroll along the road.

The Gladstone Library offers a truly unique space in which to hold your event. Built originally as the Library for the National Liberal Club, it used to house over 25,000 books, all belonging to former Prime Minister Sir William Gladstone, who commissioned the building back in 1884.
This function room is very popular for all types of event, including conferences, weddings, dinners, parties, canape receptions, fashion shows and location shoots to name just a few!
The Gladstone Library enjoys 6.5m ceilings, natural daylight, air-conditioning and wireless internet access, and is interconnected to The Reading and Writing room which overlooks Whitehall Gardens, the River Thames and London Eye.
They can be used as one function space to house up to 500 people perfect for networking events & cocktail receptions or can be used to complement each other as one room can be used for exhibitions and catering whilst the other is perfectly suited for a sit down event.

The Whitehall Suite was formerly the games room for the National Liberal Club. It displays some of the finest examples of faience tiling, a fashion introduced to Great Britain by Alfred Waterhouse during his work designing the interior of the building. The room has a built in dance floor under the carpet, which is the original mosaic floor from the 1880s
The Whitehall Suite has natural daylight, WiFi and is perfect for conferences, seminars and dinners alike and can be used in conjunction with the Whitehall Reception Room for catering and exhibition, or pre-dinner drinks.

The Cellar is a truly unique space. Once being the full time cellar for the National Liberal Club, it was filled with the best brandies, whiskies and wines that money could buy.
Today, we have a fabulous quirky space, which has many original features including the foundation stone laid by William Gladstone in 1884.
The Cellar contains natural alcove areas that are perfect for private dining for up to 12 people in each, and can accommodate drinks receptions up to 80 people. Lower the lighting, light the candles, pop on some music and you can create a very unique experience to enjoy.
