Penshurst Place & Gardens

Penshurst, Tonbridge, Kent

A majestic 14th century manor house set in formal gardens and parkland not far from Tonbridge in the Weald of Kent. Once owned by Henry VIII, this august venue is an impressive backdrop for fairytale weddings and any corporate event.

Three unique spaces exude history and splendour and along with sumptuous marquees, offer a distinguished setting for any conference, product launch or training day; resplendent for banquets, champagne receptions, and refined parties. The grounds offer much scope for team building, with activities including Segways, quad bikes, a 4x4 off road experience, and pursuits such as archery, clay pigeon shooting, and geese herding.

The medieval Baron’s Hall can accommodate 250 guests standing, 200 in theatre style, or 136 for a feast fit for a king. There’s a soaring chestnut beamed roof, a Minstrel’s Gallery, and the focal point of a rare octagonal central fireplace. In the elegant Sunderland Room, you’ll find panelled and sandstone walls hung with historic portraits; soft lighting creates a warm ambience, in the colder months a log fire can be lit. The room holds 140 people standing, 125 in theatre style, 100 dining, or 32 for a board meeting. It can be partitioned into two smaller spaces for side by side events or break out space.

The Buttery has capacity for 50 delegates standing, 40 seated in theatre style, or 30 for a private banquet; mellow stone walls are hung with rich tapestries and there’s a log fire for the winter. Outside of the opening season the refurbished Garden Restaurant seats 84 for breakouts and lunches, and from Nov-Apr a marquee can be erected on the South Lawn, for up to 300 guests dining. Oct-May a smaller marquee in the secluded courtyard seats 160. Marquees are heated and carpeted, swagged with luxurious ivory fabric.

You’ll have high speed wifi for your event, state of the art audio-visual technology, and a fully-fledged team to make your event exactly how you want it; if you want jugglers and jesters you shall have them. Appointed caterers use fresh, seasonal produce to produce an array of menus from finger buffets, picnics, BBQ’s, hog roasts and lavish dinners.

Penshurst Place & Gardens is just 32 miles from central London, with easy access from major routes. There’s ample parking and a helipad, and the nearest train stations are Penshurst (2.5 miles) or Tonbridge (6 miles).
