Luton: A thriving town in the heart of Bedfordshire
Luton is perhaps most famous for international Luton Airport – but it is in fact a thriving and attractive location with plenty on offer for visitors and those looking for venues. Both in Luton city and the surrounding countryside there are a host of gorgeous venues ideal for a range of different events, gatherings, parties and meet-ups. Our carefully curated venue list features some of the area’s most stunning locations – including the grand Knebworth House, Wrest Park House and Brocket Hall.
Situated in picturesque Bedfordshire, Luton’s close proximity to the capital and extensive redevelopment have driven its growth over the years. Established in the sixth century, the area is well-known as a desirable place to live and a hive of commercial activity. A plethora of historic buildings form its centre including Wardown House Museum and Gallery, The Stockwood Discovery centre and St Mary’s Church – and an additional few lie on the fringes within lush green countryside.
Its so-called Cultural Quarter is a vibrant, bustling hub featuring sights and sounds from all over the world - a diverse fusion that is characteristic of a city with an international twist. Browse shops and stalls at the market, wander through one of the numerous pretty parks and expansive green spaces such as Luton Hoo Memorial Park or enjoy a well-earned break in a smart independent coffee shop. The city is also home to Luton Town FC and Luton Rugby Club. Transport links are excellent – partially thanks to nearby London Luton Airport (the UK’s fifth largest) and an extensive train and road network.
