Slough
Slough in Berkshire sits on the western fringes of London, just 20 miles from the city centre. It is known as a commercial hub and major trading centre, with the highest number of global corporate HQs outside of London. Blue-chip companies based in Slough include Blackberry, Burger King, Lego and McAfee.
Slough town centre is a diverse and vibrant place to be, and extensive redevelopment in recent years has completely transformed the historic shopping area. Landmarks include ‘The Curve’, the iconic building housing Slough’s new library and culture centre and the newly-built Slough Bus and Coach Station.
Nearby attractions include Thorpe Park, the famous theme park with over 20 thrilling rides, which is just 10 miles away. Slough Museum documents local history, with special exhibits sharing its fascinating past. Dorney Court Manor House offers up a farm and beautiful gardens to explore, whilst royal Windsor is not too far away, with Windsor Castle and a host of tourist attractions to enjoy. Opened by the Queen in the 1930s, Savill Garden features an exotic mix of ornamental gardens, exotic plants and woodland for visitors to wander through. Closer to home you can take a stroll around Kennedy Park or marvel at St Mary’s Church, set in a wooded glen just out of town. Shoppers can also find big high street names at the Queensmere Observatory Shopping Centre.
As Slough lies at the intersection of the M4, M40 and M25 motorways it is easily reached by car from north and south. It’s also served by frequent trains that run in and out of London.
